VETUS Maxwell announces sponsorship of premier mid Atlantic billfish tournaments, embracing the community and strengthening commitment to marine industry and conservation

VETUS Maxwell, Inc. a global leader in marine systems and equipment, is delighted to announce its sponsorship of three of the Mid Atlantic region’s most respected billfish tournaments: the Carolina Boat Builders Tournament in Manteo, North Carolina, The MidAtlantic held in both Cape May, New Jersey and Ocean City, Maryland, and the Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament.

These partnerships reflect VETUS Maxwell’s commitment to the marine community, aligning its support with events that celebrate craftsmanship, education, and innovation in sportfishing and boat building. More than just high-level competitions, these tournaments serve as vital gatherings that strengthen ties among marine professionals, families, and local supporters.

A natural fit with marine industry and culture

The decision to sponsor these tournaments is rooted in VETUS Maxwell’s long-standing presence in the Mid Atlantic marine ecosystem. The company collaborates daily with boat builders, marinas, outfitters, and marine service professionals, many of whom participate in or support these events.

“Our systems are found on many of the boats that compete in these tournaments,” said Chris DeBoy at VETUS Maxwell. “The people who build, operate, and maintain these vessels are our partners, clients, and collaborators. These are not only competitions, they are community gatherings and industry milestones. This support is a reflection of our values and our role within the marine world.”

Highlighting three premier events

  • Carolina boat builders tournament

Hosted by the Dare County Boat Builders Foundation, this tournament celebrates the region’s boat building heritage while raising funds for local student scholarships. In 2024, it awarded over 5.7 million dollars in winnings and hosted some of the season’s most impressive catches. With strong participation from leading boat brands and OEM partners, the tournament is a major hub for marine innovation and community engagement.
  • Virginia beach billfish tournament

Known for combining elite competition with charitable impact, this tournament raises funds for youth programs and marine conservation. Since its founding in 2004, it has grown from 42 to over 70 teams with over 500 anglers in 2024. The Virginia Beach Billfish Tournament channels proceeds directly into local causes, reinforcing its deep community roots.

Supporting growth, education, and conservation

VETUS Maxwell’s sponsorships provide more than brand visibility, they represent a shared mission. From scholarships that encourage lifelong learning in the trades, to sustainable fishing practices that protect marine ecosystems, these events embody the spirit of stewardship, mentorship, and belonging that defines the Mid Atlantic marine community.

According to recent industry research, more than 1700 boats participated in major billfish tournaments across North America in 2024, with total jackpots exceeding 57 million dollars. The Mid Atlantic region accounted for nearly half of that fleet, underscoring its significance for companies aiming to engage with the marine community. These tournaments are vital platforms for not just outreach and innovation, but also for forging meaningful, lasting relationships within the industry.

VETUS Maxwell plans to continue supporting community driven events as it deepens its engagement in the Mid Atlantic region and beyond, it remains committed to the people and practices that shape the future of the marine industry.
