Press Release: Maxwell Marine launces new concealed anchoring innovation

Corporate

Maxwell Marine, the anchoring solutions specialist, has announced the introduction of the BH8, a major advancement in compact concealed anchoring systems. Developed specifically to support stern anchor installations and configurations, the BH8 combines high performance, installation flexibility, and Maxwell’s proven reliability in a package specifically developed to meet the evolving requirements of modern yacht design.

For over five decades, Maxwell Marine has been the trusted partner for boatbuilders and OEMs worldwide. From production vessels to custom sportfish or superyachts as well as commercial craft, its anchoring systems are designed to integrate seamlessly and deliver proven performance, year-round.

A key driver behind the development of the BH8, was the formulation of a design that supported both bow and stern configurations. Delivering exceptional versatility, its innovative bracket flip design enables quick and simple installation adjustments, allowing it to adapt seamlessly to a wide range of vessel layouts. This flexibility makes it an ideal solution for contemporary yachts and demanding marine environments where space, efficiency, and performance are critical.

At the core of the BH8 is Maxwell’s patented Wave Design™ chainwheel technology, engineered to ensure smooth, jam-free retrieval of both rope/chain combinations and all-chain rodes. The system also supports certain leaded ropes with the standard chainwheel, with optional chainwheels available to broaden compatibility further. Automatic free-fall technology enables fast and controlled anchor deployment, enhancing ease of use and operational efficiency.

Durability and long-term performance are ensured through a sealed oil bath gearbox, constructed from marine-grade hard-anodized alloy and incorporating a precision worm and worm wheel drive system. This robust engineering protects internal components and provides consistent, reliable operation even in harsh marine conditions.

Thijs Boegheim, Sales Director EMEA VETUS and Maxwell said: “The BH8 represents a significant step forward in concealed anchoring technology. We’ve combined the flexibility designers and builders need with the robust performance and reliability Maxwell is known for, creating a solution that integrates seamlessly into modern vessels without compromise.”

The BH8 system is capable of handling a wide range of rode types, including 6 mm, 7 mm (1/4”), and 8 mm (5/16”) chain, as well as nylon rope from 12 mm to 16 mm depending on configuration. To complement the system, an optional Roller Panel accessory is available, designed to guide the rode smoothly through a bulkhead or stern for optimal performance and reduced wear.
