Industry Trends and Innovations

Driven by new technology and customer demand, there have been remarkable advancements in marine glazing in recent years, from enhanced durability to improved aesthetics and functionality. One of the prominent market trends is the transition to ‘sticky’ glass, known for its adhesive properties. There is also a growing preference for darker profiles over the traditional natural anodized aluminium colour, though the classic steel construction remains prevalent.

At VETUS, our focus is to remain at the forefront of the evolution in the glazing sector by consistently introducing cutting-edge solutions which both redefine standards in the industry and answer the latest customer needs. We are still seeing strong demand for the classic styles, with our windows featuring aluminum profiles remaining a popular choice. These boat windows accommodate both single and double insulated glass, showcasing the versatility and adaptability of modern marine glazing solutions.

Marine Glazing Solutions

Portholes

VETUS offers an extensive range of portholes suitable for a range of vessels. These include the Hopper porthole created specifically for narrow boats, which features an aluminum frame requiring minimal upkeep and a thermal break to prevent condensation. These round windows seamlessly blend with the authentic aesthetic of canal vessels. Available in two diameters, the double-glazed panes offer clarity and easy maintenance. Boat owners can unlock the clamps for gentle ventilation or remove the pane entirely for a breeze.

Portlights

Designed and certified for installation in specific areas of the boat, VETUS portlights offer premium features such as beautiful satin anodized aluminium frames, stylish smoke-coloured opening panes, invisible fasteners, friction type hinges and anodized aluminium mosquito screens. The options for the hull side include the ultra-low profile, slim and flush PL series with square corners or the PM and PZ portlights with rounded sides or corners. Meanwhile, for the coach roof side, VETUS offers the oval-shaped PX series and the low-profile PA series with rounded corners. Refined for enhanced grip, VETUS ergonomic knobs ensure complete water tightness in the closed position.

Hatches

The VETUS escape and ventilation hatches meet the different needs of boatowners and builders, whether they are looking for a heavy-duty ocean hatch, a stylish budget model, a sturdy mid-range hatch or the best option for a new build. Key features include satin sheen anodized frame profiles and dark smoke-coloured acrylic lids, plus friction hinges or adjusters allowing the lid to be held open at the desired angle. Among the options are the MAGNUS and ALTUS hatches, with ventilation position and watertight locking, and the FGH(F) series, specifically designed for new boats for complete recess in the deck. All VETUS hatches can be supplied with an adjustable depth trim with mosquito screen.

Wipers

The VETUS wiper solutions, comprising arms, blades and motors, ensure that maintaining the cleanliness of onboard glazing in everchanging sea conditions has never been easier. The VETUS RW series wiper motors are suitable for most installations onboard motorboats and yachts and are available with splined drive as well as DIN type drive. VETUS offer several types of wiper arms, in black or stainless-steel finish, as well as several lengths of wiper blades, again in black or stainless-steel finish.
