To mark the 60+1 anniversary of VETUS, we hosted a remarkable celebration at our new Schiedam headquarters across two special events. The first, the VETUS Family Festival, was held for employees and their families on 10th May, followed by the official HQ opening and anniversary celebration with our international partners and clients on 16th May.
VETUS Family Festival
The festivities began with the VETUS Family Festival, a special event dedicated to our employees and their loved ones.
Held across the new HQ, the event welcomed around 200 adults and 50 children. Guests were greeted with drinks and a speech by the director before being invited on guided tours of the new facility. Many employees also took the opportunity to proudly show their family around their new workplace.
The event delivered a true festival atmosphere, adorned in flags, lanterns and colourful summer décor. A central stretch tent with a DJ and bar created a vibrant focal point, while picnic tables, oil-drum high tables, and parasols provided a laid-back, summer-style setting for guests to relax and enjoy the day.
Official Opening & 60+1 Year Anniversary Celebration
Just a few days later, we hosted a second event to celebrate our 60+1 year milestone with valued clients, partners, and international guests at our new Schiedam headquarters.
The event brought together colleagues, friends, and business partners, both national and international, as we commemorated the official opening of our new facility.
The new 9,500 m² headquarters is a purpose-built facility designed to encourage collaboration and creativity, vastly improving the employee environment. Featuring pioneering automated storage and retrieval systems, our warehouse capacity has doubled, allowing us to meet the growing demands of our global customer base.
We were also honoured to warmly welcome Tetsuya Yamamoto, Chief Operating Officer of YANMAR, and Wouter-Jan van der Wurff, President and CEO of YANMAR’s Marine Recreational Business Unit, to our new Schiedam headquarters. To commemorate this significant milestone, a private Sakura tree planting ceremony was held, a special gift from YANMAR’s head office in Osaka, Japan, representing our enduring partnership and shared growth. Adding to the occasion, a custom-designed VETUS totem pole was unveiled, offering a powerful visual moment that captured the spirit of the event and the journey behind it.
Situated in the historic neighbourhood where VETUS Founder, Willem den Ouden, was born, the new waterfront HQ also features dedicated mooring spaces for VETUS demo boats, enabling in-water product demonstrations and tests right on site.
Adding a nautical flair, guests were chartered across the water to the SS Rotterdam where they enjoyed a scenic BBQ buffet on board, rounding off the experience in unforgettable style. The day concluded with a lively evening party blending music, connection, and celebration.
Here’s to 61 years of innovation, partnership, and passion, and many more to come. From honouring our legacy and deepening our partnerships, to celebrating with the people who make VETUS what it is, these events captured the essence of who we are. As we look toward the future from our inspiring new headquarters, we carry forward the same passion, creativity, and commitment that have guided us from the very beginning.
